Yvonne is an experienced litigator and defense attorney with over 10 years of experience. She practices in both State and Federal courts. She is an active member of the Idaho State Bar and is admitted to practice in all State and Federal courts in the State of Idaho, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Yvonne has also received pro hac vice status to represent clients in cases in several other states.

She is well versed in the art of preparing dispositive motions and appellate level briefs. One of her favorite parts of her practice is oral argument and she has successfully argued numerous cases before District Courts throughout Idaho, the Idaho Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

After law school, Yvonne clerked for Justice Jim Jones of the Idaho Supreme Court. She joined Anderson, Julian & Hull in February 2009. Immediately prior to joining Anderson, Julian & Hull, she was an associate attorney at Greener Burke Shoemaker from 2006 – 2008.


Yvonne has been a member of the Idaho State Bar since 2005. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of Idaho as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is involved in several Sections of the Idaho State Bar, including the Litigation Section, Professionalism & Ethics Sections and the Idaho Women’s Lawyers. She is also a member of the Idaho Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and is a Barrister with the American Inn of Court No. 130.

In addition to being an experienced defense attorney, Yvonne A. Dunbar has written several treatises for use by construction and design professionals. One such publication is the Idaho Chapter of the State-By-State Guide to Design and Construction Contracts and Claims.

Yvonne is an active member of the community. Her contributions over the years include donating time to several non-profit organizations including Ronald McDonald House, March of Dimes, and the Idaho Food Bank. Yvonne also is an active volunteer at Hillcrest Elementary School.

In addition, Yvonne has actively assisted the legal community during her career. Since 2006, Yvonne has volunteered as a Bar Exam Grader for the Idaho State Bar. She has been a volunteer member of the Lawyers Assistance Program for the Idaho State Bar since 2011. The Idaho Lawyers Assistance Program’s mission is “to provide support for lawyers who are experiencing problems associated with substance abuse and/or mental health issues in a safe manner, preserving the reputation and trust of the attorney.”

Throughout her career, Yvonne has mentored students preparing to take the Bar Exam and has mentored new attorneys starting their legal careers. In years past, Yvonne also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (“CASA”) volunteer where she represented Guardians Ad Litem in child protection cases.

Yvonne has argued approximately 100 motions before State and Federal courts. Her notable cases before the Idaho Supreme Court include:

Yvonne obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2005. She graduated in the top third of her class and received the Jurisprudence Award for Introduction to Intellectual Property and the Prosser Prize for Corporations. Her activities in law school included: Berkeley Journal of International Law, Programs Coordinator and Assistant Editor; Teacher’s Assistant for Legal Research & Writing; Teacher’s Assistant for Writing & Oral Advocacy; member of the Boalt Hall Women’s Association; member of STOP Domestic Violence; mentor for Phi Alpha Delta; and judge for a Mock Trial.

Yvonne graduated with high honors from the University of Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Criminology & Law. Her honors and activities in college included: President’s Honor Roll; Dean’s List; All-American Scholar; National Collegiate Government Award; Golden Key International Honour Society; Pi Sigma Alpha member; Criminology and Law Honor Society; Defense Attorney for Mock Trial; and Upward Bound Tutor.
